Elk Gives Birth At Ranger Station In Mammoth Hot Springs

Warning: These pictures may be considered gross or graphic by some readers. Read and view with caution ultra refined city folk.

A cow elk gives birth right next to the Administration building at Yellowstone National Park headquarters in Mammoth Hot Springs!

You can see how wildlife and people can live together harmoniously.  And I figure it is one of the few places in the Yellowstone area where a cow elk can safely have her calf without it being eaten immediately by a grizzly or a wolf!

Enjoy these great photos! -

Here come the feet. Ouch. No anestesia! No epidural!

Those pictures along with your captions are great! Funny. I will be visiting Yellowstone for the 1st time in a week. I am not looking forward to our long drive from Rockford, IL; however seeing the wildlife & beauty of the area will be worth the drive.

I was just there on the 7th and i think i have a picture of her before delivering! She was on the grass at the ranger station just hanging out all by herself. Thanks for sharing!
