Snow In June?

Unfortunately for the rocky mountain travelers who started their vacations early, early morning wake up call began with coffee and snow. June 7th and we are getting some heavy, wet snow. Yes! Snow! This morning! 2 inches of it!

Though it is somewhat unusual to see snow in June, Cody residents were probably not surprise, a little disappointed, but not surprised. Sometimes we get snow in July. I believe it was July 4 1988 when a lot of people stood on main street,  in the snow, to watch the parade. Snow alone is not a big deal but snow in June when your thinking BBQ’s and Frisbee IS.

Weird weather patterns are not unusual for Wyoming. A beautiful warm summer day can, in a blink of the eye turn into a windy summer squal in minutes. 30 – 40 mile per hour wind gust rock you in your shoes, shake your vehicle, and mess up a good hair day. Sometimes the wind blows for days on end. A little summer snow is not unusual for the Cody – Yellowstone area. Winter advisories where in effect early this morning, the high today is a whopping 43 degrees, 10 – 20 degrees below average. Have a nice day summer travelers.
